Every dyslexic mind has something brilliant to offer

Dyslexia is a specific learning difficulty that affects reading, writing and spelling — but it is not a reflection of intelligence. With the right support and early identification, dyslexic learners can thrive.

Long NHS and school waiting lists mean many children go undiagnosed for years, missing vital support that could transform their confidence and progress.

At Dyslexia Blossoms, we provide timely, professional, and compassionate assessments that give families and schools the answers and the roadmap they need.

Built on 8 years of SEND leadership

Dyslexia Blossoms was founded by Jamie-Lee Lothian, an experienced SENCo and Director of Special Educational Needs with over eight years working in both primary and secondary schools across Northamptonshire.

Having supported hundreds of children and families through the SEND system, Jamie-Lee understands the frustration of long waiting times, the confusion of navigating the system, and the profound difference a timely, well-written assessment can make to a child’s education and self-belief.

Holding a Postgraduate Diploma in Specific Learning Difficulties and Inclusion and an APC Certificate, Jamie-Lee is fully qualified to conduct and report on formal dyslexia diagnostic assessments — bringing with her a wealth of practical, empathetic, school-focused knowledge.

The name says it all: we believe every child with dyslexia has the potential to blossom — they just need the right support to help them get there.

Common questions

Frequently asked questions

Everything you need to know before booking.

How old does my child need to be for an assessment?

We offer screening assessments from age 6, and full diagnostic assessments from age 7. We also assess adults of any age.

Will the report be accepted by my child’s school?

Yes. All reports are produced to BDA and PATOSS standards and are accepted by schools, local authorities, and for exam access arrangements.

How long does an assessment take?

A full assessment session takes 2–3 hours. We work at the child’s pace in a relaxed, friendly environment.

Can the assessment be done online?

Some elements can be conducted online, but key components require an in-person session. We will advise you at the consultation stage.

How quickly will we receive the report?

We aim to deliver all reports within 4 weeks of the assessment. Priority turnaround is available for schools with time-sensitive exam needs.

Can a diagnosis help with GCSE or A-level access arrangements?

Absolutely. A JCQ-compliant Form 8 assessment can support applications for extra time, a reader, a scribe, and other arrangements.

Do you offer payment plans?

We understand assessments are an investment. Please contact us to discuss payment options — we are committed to making our services as accessible as possible.

What area do you cover?

We are based in Northampton and cover Northamptonshire and surrounding areas. Online consultations are available nationally.
